Born from the open waters, dirt and uncharted edges of endurance sport, Xterra He spent three decades spinning One start line in Maui To the global Off-road triathlon community. While the XTERRA World Championship goes back 30 years, the story spans from the pioneers who helped define the sport to the pros, cross-country athletes, youth athletes, and families who pass it on from one generation to the next.
This exhibition takes a look at the beginnings, heroes and turning points that led to the building of the XTERRA triathlon, while looking forward to celebrating its 30th anniversary this year in Ruidoso, New Mexico.
XTERRA Triathlon History in Pictures: The “Aquaterra” Era (1996-1999)

The starting pistol shooting on the original “Aquaterra” starting line in 1996 at Wailea Beach, Maui, Hawaii was the “big bang” for the sport.
