What’s better than a cold popsicle on a hot day? A nutrient-rich popsicle made with whole foods and healthy herbs! A few months ago I made mango Golden milk lollipopsRecently I’ve been experimenting with hibiscus lemonade popsicles.
They contain a high percentage of vitamin C and antioxidants, making them ideal for keeping the immune system strong.
Support the immune system
Not a fun fact… According to the Cleveland Clinic, enteroviruses infect more than 15 million Americans each year. These types of viruses are more common in the summer months. Public pools, running around with the neighborhood kids, everyone touching the same baseball. There are plenty of reasons why kids still need immune system support year-round. And adults too!
During cold and flu season, I sometimes make these Lollipops with their tongue. Truly, they are delicious all year round. But there’s something special and classic about an icy pitcher of lemonade in the summer. The Hibiscus Lemonade Popsicles have the same flavor, but with a fruity twist and in lollipop form.
Benefits of lemon
Obviously, we need lemons to make lemonade popsicles. They are naturally rich in vitamin C and flavonoids which are linked to various health benefits. Citric acid can increase urine pH and prevent kidney stones. One study found that those who ate more flavonoids were less likely to develop heart failure, ischemic heart disease, and stroke.
“Flavonoids metabolize and protect the heart when they interact with the gut microbiome (microorganisms in the digestive tract). Their activities are associated with lower blood pressure by 15% of the association between flavonoid-rich foods and systolic blood pressure.”
Hibiscus is rich in nutrients
Hibiscus flowers are gorgeous with their huge, vibrant blooms. It’s also really good for you. They have been used traditionally for thousands of years to help cool the body and support the cardiovascular system. It has been used in some areas to treat coughs, sore throats, and upper respiratory congestion.
Hibiscus also helps with digestion and insomnia. Thanks to its high levels of vitamin C and antioxidants, it helps the immune system and overall cell health. Additionally, hibiscus can help with prevention Urinary tract infections (urinary tract infection) and may inhibit the growth of candida and fungi.
Cooling the rosehip
Rosehip is another herb I use when I need something high in Vitamin C. It is rich in flavonoid antioxidants and helps nourish the body. Rosehip has a cooling and softening effect on the body’s tissues, which is ideal for warm summer days.
These herbal lemonade popsicles are a great way to cool off and stay healthy during the warmer months. But it tastes delicious all year round. Here’s how to make it!
