Growing up in the South, summer days mean Swimming in the poollate night, frozen desserts. And while you won’t find me searching for frozen fudge at your local store, these homemade fudges are the perfect healthy solution.
I have a lot of Popsicle recipes They are a huge hit around our house. The fudge is creamier and richer with a frozen chocolate fudge taste. I only like light desserts, but you can adjust the sweetness with raw honey and the type of chocolate used.
Homemade fudgecycle
Real food tastes better. Like many kids, I was a fan of fudge when I was little. However, once I switched to whole foods, I realized that fast food didn’t taste as good.
Not only does homemade fudge taste better, it’s easier to put together and healthier. You can also make several batches at once to freeze for later. My kids love these! I’ll keep things like this hidden in the fridge to bring out when the neighborhood kids stop by to play (which happens all the time!).
Fudge pop ingredients
I’ve seen a lot of recipes used like pre-packaged instant pudding mix. Just read the ingredient list on the back of the box and you’ll see why I’d rather skip this. Instead, the fudge uses real chocolate, either chocolate chips or cocoa powder.
I also used raw Whole milk And full-fat canned coconut milk for a rich, creamy taste. If you want your creamer to be creamier, use coconut cream instead of coconut milk. Whole milk is higher in healthy fats, giving you a creamier mouthfeel. However, you can use your favorite dairy-free milk if you want a dairy-free version.
Sweet, sweet chocolate
Chocolate has some impressive health benefits… when it’s not drowned in sugar. Semi-sweet or bitter chocolate works well in this recipe. Choose chocolate that you enjoy eating on its own because the flavor really shines. I really prefer dark chocolate, but you might like something a little sweeter.
For a sweeter version, add honey a little at a time until it reaches your preferred sweetness. A tablespoon or two works well if you want to add honey.

Homemade Fudgesicle Recipe
-
Combine coconut milk, milk, cocoa powder, and sea salt in a small saucepan. Whisk until the cocoa is fully combined and no lumps remain.
-
Heat over medium-low heat until the mixture steams and begins to bubble around the edges. There is no need to boil it.
-
Remove the pan from the heat and add the chopped chocolate. Continue whisking until the chocolate melts completely and the mixture becomes silky smooth.
-
Taste and add honey as desired, stirring until it dissolves.
-
Fill popsicle molds. Allow the mixture to cool slightly before pouring it into popsicle molds. This helps thicken it a little and prevents separation.
-
Insert the sticks and freeze until completely firm, about 6 hours or overnight.

Shelf life and storage
Since it’s a frozen dessert, you’ll obviously want to keep it in the fridge. They will stay fresh for several weeks when stored in an airtight container. You can also make several batches at once and freeze them for later.
