Many people talk about stretching before they start. It doesn’t mean they want to miss out on feeling better. This is because spending time practicing yoga can be stressful or time-consuming, which is understandable. Even a 10-minute workout becomes exhausting when you’re too nervous.
But it doesn’t have to take as long as you think to start feeling good in your body. This 3-minute yoga class for beginners does the job. There are no complicated modes or transitions. They are just simple guided movements that anyone can follow. It’s a quick, full-body stretch that allows you to appear exactly as you are, even when your motivation and energy are low.
3-Minute Basic Yoga Routine for Beginners (or Literally Anyone)
You can do these stretches first thing in the morning before the start of the day, or in the middle of your workday, or the moment you close your laptop after work, or even before bed. After just three minutes, notice if you feel more comfortable in your body.

1. Neck stretch
Sit cross-legged on the mat. Tilt your head to lower your right ear toward your right shoulder. Take some breaths here. Return your head to center. Tilt your head toward the left, lowering your left ear toward your left shoulder. Take some breaths here. Then return to the center.

2. Cross-legged front pleat
Walk your hands forward on the mat, then place your upper body on your legs. Take a few breaths here as you relax. Then roll up slowly.

3. Rotating position from head to knee
From a squat, keep your right leg bent and straighten your left leg out to the side. Slowly bend your upper body over your left leg, tilting your chest toward your toes and reaching with your left hand toward your shin or thigh. Turn your chest to the right Rotating position from head to knee. Extend your right arm toward the ceiling, then over your left leg. Take some breaths here.

4. Head to knee position
From a head-to-knee position, point your shoulders toward your left leg and place your hands on the mat on either side of your leg. Round your back as you lean forward on your leg and allow your head and neck to relax Head into Knee Pose. Take some breaths here.

5. Bend forward while sitting with wide legs
While sitting on the mat, separate your legs in a V shape. Walk your hands forward while lowering your chest toward the space between your legs Wide-legged forward bend. Let your head and neck relax.

6. Cow cat
Come to your hands and knees. Arch your back and lift your chin inward Cow pose. Take some breaths here. When you’re ready, round your back and lower your chin towards your chest Cat pose. Repeat the Cat-Cow exercise for a few rounds at your own pace.

7. Child’s position
From your hands and knees, pull your hips toward your heels, walk your hands forward, and lower your forehead to the mat or block Child’s position. Stay here for a few breaths.
