I’m a big fan of Oil pulling. I’ve shared before how this ancient practice began and why I started oil pulling With coconut oil instead of. I decided to update my oral routine with coconut oil essential oil chews!
Not familiar with oil pulling? It’s simply swishing the oil (usually sesame or coconut oil) in your mouth, then spitting it out into the trash. Coconut oil pulling for teeth is an ancient practice, but more people are starting to use it again. How long you infuse coconut oil depends on your tolerance, but 5 to 20 minutes is a good goal. So, how often do you do a coconut oil pull? Aim for once a day, or at least a few times a week.
What type of coconut oil you use also plays a role. I recommend using organic or virgin (or unrefined) coconut oil. MCT oil It will work too.
The idea is that the oil can reach and help remove harmful substances in the mouth, such as bacteria and plaque. Unlike mouthwash and toothpaste that contain alcohol, oil may be able to reach hard-to-reach parts of your gums. The natural antibacterial properties of oils such as coconut may help break down bacteria.
Many report that their teeth and gums appear cleaner when using the oil regularly. Others notice that bad breath disappears. I personally saw less swelling in my gums and plaque on my teeth. My dentist even commented on how clean and plaque-free my teeth were after adding the oil to them My oral health routine.
