Enter the 2026 AASM High School Video Contest

The American Academy of Sleep Medicine is excited to begin this conference 2026 AASM “Sleep for Success” High School Video Contest. This annual event invites teens to get creative, share their voices, and help others understand why sleep is important. It’s a fun way to learn, inspire and compete for a prize, all while spreading an important message about healthy sleep.

Students can enter by creating an original 30-90 second video that helps teens understand the importance of prioritizing sleep. Entries can be submitted under one of the following categories:

  • Short film/original story: A live-action fantasy short featuring original characters, storytelling, and a creative plot centered around healthy sleep.
  • Musical/Parody: A fun song or a playful reinterpretation of a movie, series or famous moment with a touch of sleep and health.
  • Cartoon/anime: An animated piece that uses art and movement to highlight the importance of sleep.

Regardless of the style, the goal is the same: to show why sleep is important to teens and how it shapes daily life. Videos can be funny, honest, creative or educational; The style is up to the creator.

Participating in the contest gives teens the opportunity to build media skills, explore storytelling and make a real impact. The winning videos will be showcased by AASM, giving the students a platform to share their message with a wide audience.

Sleep plays a key role in focus, learning, mood, creativity, athletic performance, and staying safe on the road. When teens get the sleep they need, they think more clearly, feel better, and have more energy – making healthy sleep an important topic worth highlighting.
