Treating the disease – revealing the biggest mistakes

Natural Health 365 Podcast(Natural Health365) According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), about 610,000 people die from heart disease in the United States each year — that’s 1 in 4 deaths.

In 2016, the National Cancer Institute says more than 1.6 million new cases of cancer were diagnosed in the United States — with more than 595,000 people dying from the disease.

The costs associated with treating the disease are staggering

For example, in 2010, the cost of heart disease and strokes was about $315 billion. In addition, cancer costs about $157 billion.

Then diabetes costs $245 billion, arthritis about $128 billion, and the list goes on and on. In my opinion, this horrific picture tells us two undeniable facts: The first is that Western medicine offers nothing in terms of an effective solution to the most pressing health problems of our time. The second reason is that the money made from treating diseases is spent too much – which provides no incentive to fix the real problem.

About Dr. Lauren Deville

Dr. Lauren Deville is board certified to practice medicine in Arizona. She received her NMD from Southwestern College of Naturopathic Medicine in Tempe, Arizona, and holds a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and molecular biophysics from the University of Arizona, with minors in Spanish and creative writing.

Dr. Lauren came to natural medicine in a roundabout way. When she was 15, her father died of cancer, after which she planned to devote her life to cancer research. But she soon discovered that research was not for her.

Years later, she planned to attend traditional medical school, but was frustrated by her volunteer experience, which seemed to consist only of treating symptoms, rather than finding and treating underlying causes. She found SCNM almost by accident, but the moment she walked through the doors of her future medical school, she knew this was what she had been looking for all along. She considers herself incredibly lucky to have found a career that is also a calling.
