Diamond league ligament

Sarah Billings finished second in the Australian 800m with a time of 1:57.61 at the Rabat Diamond League to qualify for the Commonwealth Games. Sofiane El Bakkali set the world lead with a time of 7:57.25 in front of his home crowd while Yared Nogos edged out world champion Ishak Nader to win the 1,500m in 3:30.35.

Launceston Running Festival

Hafto Strentzos set the Australian all-comers half marathon record to win the Launceston Festival of Running in 60:48, ahead of Brett Robinson and Genya Ozaki of Japan. Women’s results: Azi Pat Doyle 68:46, Jane Gregson and Yumi Yoshikawa.

Caitlin Scott (née Adams) won the 10km race in a time of 31:38 ahead of Georgia Grejic and Ruby Smee, while Ed Marks ran solo to win in a record 27:57 ahead of Sam Clifford and Jack Rayner.

St Annes Bendigo XCR Series

Logan Janetsky won the St Annes Bendigo 8k XC race in the XCR Series ahead of Andy Buchanan and Will Lovett. Sandringham were the winning Grade 1 team ahead of Bendigo and Western Athletics.

Georgia Hansen won the women’s race in 28:55 over Katherine Dowie and Amy Cashin, with Sandringham winning Division One ahead of Box Hill and University of Melbourne.

In Karlsruhe, Germany, Australia’s all-time No. 3 Cam Myers ran 1:44.05, while Jayla Hancock-Cameron ran 2:02.55 in the 800m and Jay Edwards 3:34.95 in the 1500m.
