National Track and Field Championships
Cam Myers set another record in the 1500m to win the national title with a time of 3:29.85, just shy of the national record with Olly Hoare in second and Adam Spencer in third.
In the final moments of the women’s 1500m final, Jess Hall crashed and fell, denying her the title, with Claudia Hollingsworth disqualified after an appeals process and Sarah Billings initially awarded the title with Abby Caldwell. Claudia Hollingsworth was later reinstated as the winner of the final.
Peter Paul added his fifth national title in the 800 metres, winning the final in a time of 1:45 minutes ahead of Luke Boyes and Bob Abdel-Rahim. Abby Caldwell came back from the 1,500 to win the 800 with a time of 1:58.57, ahead of Claudia Hollingsworth and Sarah Billings.
Jess Hall found redemption in winning the 5,000m in 15:13.21 ahead of Linden Hall and Moody Skyring. Cam Myers came back to win the 5,000-meter national title with a time of 13:11.66, beating Seth O’Donnell and Morgan McDonald.
Ed Tripas won the men’s 3000m steeplechase in a time of 8:35.29 ahead of Ben Buckingham and Padrae Heffernan. Kara Finn Ryan won in 9:35.87, ahead of Brielle Erbacher and Helena Rose Butler.
Canberra Marathon
Jarrod Osborne ran 2:24:49 and Demi Caldwell in 2:43:24 to each take victory in this year’s Canberra Marathon. Ed Goddard and Radka Kalfeldt both won the half marathon.
