I began my stint as astrology editor with a healthy dose of skepticism. It was early 2019, and we were requesting a series of predictions for 2020 from some of the best astrologers in the business, in-depth reports on upcoming astrological transits and what they could mean for our existence here on Earth. According to each of them, we were witnessing the kind of disruption and change that happens once in a lifetime, if not once in a generation.
Well, yes, I believed. It’s an election year. How bad is it?
A year later, at the beginning of the pandemic, I decided to reread some of those predictions. What I found was a level of insight that can only be appreciated in hindsight.
Although I’m still not a fan of over-generalizing zodiac signs, or caring too much about the daily commute that might make you Drive yourself a little nutsI am now evaluating some history-defining transits – of the rare, controversial kind, whose past events are linked to historical world events. With a little rear-view analysis, you might as well.
Astrology scale
Astrology can be a lot to take in. The system is based on our system universeafter all, with astrological transits (also known as the way the planets move and relate to each other or to a particular zodiac sign) ranging in duration from a few days to several years. Sometimes it’s like hundreds of years.
Whether you fully believe that terrestrial events are directed by the stars and planets or not, there are certain changes on our planet that seem undeniably linked to what is happening in the universe. The slow and cyclical advance of some planets coincided with revolutions, radical changes in thinking and causes, and shifts in power dynamics and technology.
Need some concrete examples of these big celestial movements? These last three transits have come with some major changes, and are consistent with similar upheavals in past eras.
Before we get started, a gentle reminder: The stars and planets may be bigger than us, but we still have power. Embrace impermanence, the power of humanity, and your ability to exercise your will and draw on your experience.
“The collective story is changing, and we have to understand that we will never go back to the world we once had,” says one astrologer. Celeste Brooks In connection with the next transit and accompanying world events. “What future do you want to imagine moving forward?”
1. Conjunction of Saturn and Pluto
When did this happen: January 12, 2020
Transit timing: Occurs every 33-38 years
If you’re wondering which transit caused such confusion in the 2020 writing above, it was mostly this one. The Saturn-Pluto conjunction, or alignment, is a rare transit that occurs once every 30 years, and on January 12, 2020, it occurred in Capricorn.
Saturn It is about structures, discipline and work. At the same time, Pluto carries with him all things unseen, things buried deep, and the power to transform them. This connection is always strong, but in Capricorn, it touches on our society and how it works.
Astrologers warned that the strong transit will lead to a period of tension and a comprehensive collapse of society, government and economy. Like all transits, this one came with an opportunity for some real transformation: a chance to rebuild our group in a new and thoughtful way, rather than allowing things to be rebuilt using the same old foundational framework.
I’ll let you sit with this.
2. Pluto in Aquarius
When did it happen: October 13, 2025
Transit timing: It spends 12-31 years in each sign and takes 248 years to move through the zodiac
Brooks describes Pluto as the “Roto-Rooter” of the galaxy. “They may be small, but they are powerful,” she says. She explains that Pluto rules power, and is known for bringing buried things to light. “It strips away the facades. It’s humbling.”
If Pluto is about power structures and revealing what is hidden, Aquarius is about teamwork and advancement of thought. mine Anthony Perrottawhich regularly delves into the connections between astrological shifts and historical events, notes that Pluto in Aquarius coincided with the French Revolution, the American Revolution, and the Haitian Revolution, along with the Age of Enlightenment.
“We will see revolutionary energy rising during this period (as it already has), as we try to regain our independence and independence from government control,” Perrotta says. “Aquarius wants us to redistribute power.”
This includes learning how to coexist with technology such as artificial intelligence, and carefully balancing the human-robot relationship rather than relying excessively on it. “The shift will come to social media, how we use the internet, and the actual tech stuff,” Perrotta says. “I feel like we’re going to see the AI bubble burst.”
3. Neptune in Aries
When it happened: January 26, 2026
Transit timing: It spends 14 years in each sign and takes 165 years to move through the zodiac
Fun Fact: The Crusades and Civil War occurred while Neptune was in Aries.
Brooks points out that French astrologer Andre Barbault (1921-2019) referred to the year 2026 as an important moment in history, with specific mention of Neptune in Aries. “This is a global reset, where we step back and look at our institutions,” Brooks says. “Aries is the sign of falling; the realization that these institutions don’t work for people. Neptune dissolves things.”
According to Perrotta, Neptune in Aries Periods related to freedom of belief and the struggle for it. He points out that the rise of Darwinism and the creation of the periodic table of the elements came with the cycles of Neptune in Aries.
This time, Perrotta expects increases in social activity, groundbreaking insights, and personal discoveries. He adds: “We may lose confidence in leadership and seek to uplift the vulnerable and intolerable.” “We will also glorify rebels in some way – television, music and the media will glorify those who have rebellious, eccentric or fiery spirits.”
Astrology as a mirror
Keep in mind that on a larger scale, astrology is not about fortune telling. It’s like a mirror.
“Astrology happens with Ours, no to “We,” Perrotta says, “move the energy and embody it.” For this reason, Perrotta likes to remind clients to think about their role within these larger, hard-to-grasp shifts. “If you want to make a difference, what does that mean to you? How can you express that concretely?” he asks, listing options like volunteering, creating artwork, or sharing information with others.
Although these transits happen once in a lifetime, they don’t have to crush your spirit or spirit, Perrotta notes. You can decide to be inspired to take whatever energy exists and make what you want of it. With that in mind, he approaches larger transits with full awareness — and a certain level of coolness toward it all. “I understand it has appeal, but it’s so big that we can’t swallow it whole,” he says. “We have to know that the things they bring take time… perhaps even after the crossing itself is over.”
