Breathe your way to enhanced energy.

If you have ever tried meditation, regular breathing or abiding Pranayama Practice, you are probably aware of the power of your breath. The right breathing exercise has the power to change your mood, the way you feel in your body, and your energy levels.
The fourth of Eight limbs of yogapranayama is commonly translated as “breath control” and “extension of life force.” It highlights the connection between breath, mind, body and your overall vitality. Takeaway? Your breath is a tool that, with guidance, can provide near-instant rejuvenation.
The breathing exercise that supports this is three rounds Fire breaththe mainstay of Kundalini and one of the most invigorating pranayama practices. This breathing involves short, rapid exhalations. All you need to practice breathing is your breath, your body, and a pillow or block to aid your breathing Sitting position As comfortable as possible.

Start by sitting in a comfortable seat. Prop yourself up by adding a pillow or support of your choice under your sit bones, and elevating your hips to help lengthen your spine and breathe a little easier.
Sit tall and relax your shoulders. Your hands can rest in your lap, with the palms facing up.
Start with five rounds of slow, deep breathing.
Take a final inhale and exhale. Prepare for three rounds of Breath of Fire, each lasting approximately one minute.
On the next inhale, inhale only partially. Exhale through your nose in short puffs. This should make your belly dance feel effortless, but it can be as fast and powerful or as slow and deliberate as you want. Just keep pulling your belly button toward your spine with each exhale.
After one minute, take a long, slow, deep inhale, hold your breath, and then let out a big sigh as you exhale. Take two extra deep breaths before your next round of Breath of Fire.

In the second round of Breath of Fire, place your hands over your heart in a prayer-like position. Repeat as above.
Finish your second round of Breath of Fire with a deep inhale, then exhale as you exhale. Take two more deep breaths before starting your final round of Breath of Fire.

In this final round, place your fingertips on your palm, with your thumb spread wide. Raise your arms in a large V shape. When you’re ready, get started.
Once the minute is up, raise your arms up, taking a big inhale before exhaling with your hands out to your thighs or lap.
Take a moment to notice how your energy has shifted. Take this renewed energy with you throughout the rest of your day.
